Stair Lifts in St. Louis, Missouri
We install straight, curved and outdoor stair lifts for homes across the St. Louis metro. If your home is an older brick house, its staircase may be narrower or steeper than modern construction, which makes an in-person measurement especially important. Coverage is confirmed by address.
What St. Louis staircases tend to look like
If your home was built before modern building codes — a brick two-story, a four-family or a shotgun-style house, for example — the staircase may have a steeper pitch, shallower treads or a quarter-turn squeezed into the top or bottom of the flight.
A narrow staircase does not rule out a lift, but it does change the conversation: the folded width of the seat, which side the rail sits on and where the seat parks all become critical rather than cosmetic. We measure those on site rather than working from typical dimensions.
Basement stairs and the second entrance
If your laundry, freezer or utilities are in the basement and reached by a separate, tighter set of stairs, the basement flight may be the one that matters most, not the main staircase.
If that is your situation, tell us at the assessment so we look at both flights in the same visit.
Historic districts and rental properties
Some St. Louis neighborhoods sit in local historic districts, and some homes are rented rather than owned. A stair lift is an interior fixture mounted to the stair treads, but if you rent, or if an exterior lift is being considered on a street-facing porch, get written permission from the property owner or the district before installation day. We are happy to describe exactly what is being installed so you can pass it on.
