After ownership
Stair Lift Removal, Relocation and Buyback
When a stair lift is no longer needed, Heartland can remove and dispose of it. Buying a used lift or relocating it to another home may be possible after reviewing the model, age and condition — it's case by case, not guaranteed. Removal leaves screw holes in the treads.

Relocating a lift to a new home
Straight rails can sometimes be reused if the new staircase is similar, or re-cut. Curved rails are made for one staircase and rarely transfer. Tell us the make, model and age, and photos help.
What removal leaves behind
Brackets are screwed into the treads, so holes remain. Carpet under the brackets may be compressed or marked. Plan for minor repair if you're preparing a home for sale.
Common questions
- Can you remove, buy or move a stair lift I no longer need?
- We offer removal and disposal, and may purchase a used lift or relocate one to another home after reviewing the model, age and condition.
- Will a stair lift damage my walls or stairs?
- The rail mounts to the stair treads, not the wall. Mounting leaves screw holes in the treads if the lift is removed later, and carpet under the brackets may compress or be marked.
